TILE RESTORATION CENTER.
FIELD TILES . CARVED RELIEF DESIGNS . CUSTOM DESIGN SERVICES .
Tile Restoration Center makes accurate reproduction tiles using many historical images and techniques, but all of their tile designs are created from scratch. They are influenced by California Arts & Crafts designer Ernest Batchelder, whose tile designs blended medieval themes with his ideas of balance and rhythm and emphasized the value of the hand-work process.
TILE COLORS
Unlike glazes, which can cover a clay body, these muted colors are derived from the interaction of Tile Restoration Center’s stains with the clay. When stain colors are fired into the clay body, they become a durable and integral part of the clay.

Relief Tile Colors:
Relief tiles are made with two colors: the “inflow” color is the stain color used in the recessed background areas, while the raised surface, the topcoat, is stained with Earth Brown.
